Duchess of Cambridge Dazzles Again
Leave it to the Duchess of Cambridge to fill in for Prince Charles at the last minute and look incredible doing so.
The Duchess wore an Amanda Wakeley gown from 2007 to a small dinner for In Kind Direct on Wednesday night, a charity that redistributes unused goods.
This was the Duchess’s first solo engagement since marrying into the royal family. Prince Charles had to fly to Saudia Arabia after the Crown Prince died.
According to What Kate Wore, the Duchess recycled a pair of Jimmy Choo shoes and a diamond bracelet for the event. If you ask me, she doesn’t look too shabby for throwing this look together at the last minute. And my girl crush on the Duchess of Cambridge continues.
FYI, for anyone thinking that the Duchess wears hair extensions (as speculated because of the shiny-ish line on the Duchess’s forehead in the above picture), please read this and leave the poor girl alone.

What I’m Wearing: Pleats and Pinks
Don’t forget to enter my JewelMint giveaway!
Hi, my name is Christa, and I’m a teensy bit intimidated by maxi skirts.
When done right, maxi skirts can look effortlessly chich and on trend. I think I like the idea of maxi skirts in the fall more than over the summer. A long skirt with a cute sweater and flats or wedges is a perfect “transitioning seasons” outfit. I’ve just been too afraid to wear them wrong and look like a fool. But with the styling help (and extra boost of confidence) of my sister, I felt good enough in this Missoni for Target maxi skirt to wear it to work.
(Please excuse my 13 year old brother’s junk hanging around in the photos. I have to give him props, though, because he took these pictures!)
This skirt is extremely comfortable and beautifully pleated. If you look very carefully at the pictures, you can see the infamous Missoni zig-zag pleated into the bottom of the skirt, which is why this was the only piece of Missoni for Target clothing I bought. The zig-zags are there, but they don’t scream at you.
Since I wore this outfit yesterday (on Wednesday), I had to wear pink accessories because “on Wednesdays we wear pink.”
And now, I can safely say that I’m not as afraid of maxi skirts as I was. Baby steps.
Skirt: Missoni for Target, $50
Shirt: American Eagle Outfitters (old)
Shoes: Gap Outlet, $15
Scarf: Anthropologie, $10
Ring: Lord & Taylor, $5

The Season of Ponchos and Capes
Today’s post was inspired by a tweet from Twitter’s PR and Fashion sweetheart, @DKNY:
We are undoubtedly in that season now; the transition between summer and winter where it’s just chilly enough for some kind of outer-layer, yet not cold enough for full on winter outerwear. However, I’m going to amend DKNY’s statement and add ponchos to that list as well.
Capes and ponchos are an effortless way to look on trend without taking too many risks. You can find each with a ginormous variety of colors, styles, and materials, so you’re sure to find one that you love.
Pair a poncho with a cute pair of skinny jeans or warm leggings and boots on days when it’s a bit warmer. Use a cape as your coat for the day with a long pair of gloves. Each are perfect for a weekend full of fun fall activities.

ZARA Poncho Sweater, $79 USD (photo from zara.com)

Fiets Voor 2 Cabled Cocoon Poncho, $59.95 (on sale, photo from anthropologie.com. Check local stores for availability.)
I own this poncho, and as soon as I wear it, I will post it! It’s so soft and comfy, can’t wait to break it out.

ZOE Major: Rachel Zoe Debuts Two New Newsletters
The year 2011 has undoubtedly been the year of Rachel Zoe. The celebrity stylist has a wildly popular show on Bravo, launched her own collection at New York Fashion Week in February to rave reviews (in addition to her other collection on QVC), and gave birth to her first child earlier this year. Her empire keeps growing and growing, and the launch of two new newsletters is definitely helping with that.
Rachel Zoe’s daily newsletter, The Zoe Report, has branched out and added AccessZOEries and ZOE Beautiful to the lineup last week. I was so excited to see the newsletters, as Rodger Berman, Rachels husband and president of her company, announced the new newsletters at the Lucky Magazine Fashion and Beauty Blogger conference in September. Needless to say, we were nothing short of ecstatic that The Zoe Report was diving into separate newsletters just for accessories and beauty.
Each is its own separate newsletter with AccessZOEries focusing on- you guessed it- accessories, and ZOE Beautiful is for beauty. The Zoe Report will continue to feature clothing.
If you are fashion obsessed, Rachel Zoe obsessed, or both, you need to sign up for at least one of these emails (if not all of them). I find them to be the perfect mix of text and pictures. Tons of graphics and a quick paragraph or two about one specific item, which follows in the fashionable footsteps of The Zoe Report. It’s so bananas, and majorly worth checking out.

Wardrobe Essentials: 10 Items You Need for Fall
Don’t forget to enter my Lucky FABB gift bag giveaway!
The weather is finally cooling down here on the East Coast and I can now start thinking about fall clothes. September was unusually humid here, and I don’t know about anyone else, but I can’t think of sweaters and jackets when it’s so humid out that I can barely breathe.
Now that the weather is finally fall-like, it’s time to bust out- and update- the autumn wardrobe. Here are a few items that I think could add an oomph to your existing wardrobe. I picked out 10 items that I would absolutely love to have in my closet for fall, ranging in trend and style from pleats, to capes, to suede, to bright color, and everything in between. Pair any of these items with a cup of pumpkin spice coffee and enjoy:

HUGE NEWS! Jason Wu Will Be Target’s Next GO International Collaborator
Don’t forget to enter my Lucky FABB gift bag giveaway!
Let’s hope this collection’s release is a bit smoother than Missoni for Target.
Regardless, BREAKING news this morning from Target: American fashion designer Jason Wu will be the big box retailer’s next collaborator!
Target, very cleverly, tweeted hints and pictures about who the next collaborator would be last night. This morning, a video was released confirming the rumors surrounding the announcement.
You can expect a collection of clothing and accessories from Wu, ranging from $20-60. Release date slated for February 5th, 2012.
You can enter a contest for a chance to win the sketch above, signed by Wu, from Harper’s Bazaar. Click the Harper’s Bazaar link below for details.
This news comes on the heels of Wu’s Spring/Summer 2012 collection receiving rave reviews at New York Fashion Week last month.
Needless to say, I am BEYOND excited for this collaboration. Hopefully, Target learned from its mistakes in how the Missoni for Target collection was handled.
